Education
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Biomedical Engineering
- Weighted Average Mark of 84.
- Relevant study includes Biomedical Instrumentation, covering data acquisition architectures, measurement principles, op-amp circuit configurations and biosignal chains.
Engineering experience
Biomedical Engineering Team Lead, Optik Consultancy
- Led the biomedical engineering work on a Forced Oscillation Technique attachment for CPAP and BiPAP machines within a seven-person multidisciplinary team, delivering the first working prototype in the project's history.
- Specified the analog front end, rejecting an on-board multiplexed ADC because sequential channel reads would corrupt the phase measurement, and using simultaneous sampling to keep the pressure and flow channels coherent.
- Taught myself PCB design and produced a 2-layer FR-4 board of 26 × 40 mm from schematic capture through routing to Gerber export, passing design rule check with zero errors and fabricating through JLCPCB.
- Selected dual Honeywell HSC sensors for airway pressure at ±10 inH₂O and flow at ±2 inH₂O, and designed the analog conditioning around them.
- Wrote Arduino Uno R4 firmware using a hardware-timer interrupt to drive a phase-locked DAC output and dual ADC acquisition at 420 Hz.
- Modelled tubing junctions and enclosure components in SolidWorks, tolerancing for FDM print shrinkage, and refitted printed parts as requirements changed.
- Built a Flask dashboard for live acquisition, recovering respiratory impedance using FFT and phase-sensitive detection.
- Took ownership of final assembly sealing and leak testing, tracing and resealing leaks until the pneumatic path held, so the measurements given to the clinical team could be trusted.
- Led the clinical research for the team, translating COPD therapy requirements into sensing and sampling specifications and reporting progress to clinicians at Royal North Shore Hospital and the Woolcock Institute.
Other experience
Customer-facing and hospitality roles
- Sustained part-time work across independent café operations and high-volume venues throughout the degree.
- Daily communication with customers and colleagues under time pressure, in teams where handover accuracy mattered.
Resident Networker, UTS Housing
- Supported residents and ran activities that built community across a student housing cohort.
